It all depends on how good of a friend they were and if they woul be understanding. If the guy was someone I considered a great friend and I thought it woiuld put a strain on our friendship then no I would not date one of his exes. If however he were someone that I wasn't all that close with and the loss of his friendship wouldn't matter all that much to me then yes I would date one of his exes if I was really interested in her.

I have done this in high school... but they hadn't been serious together and she didn't mind, and over a year had passed since they broke up. If I thought for one second that it would bother her I wouldn't have ever let him know that I was attracted to him.
