As everybody else has said, you can for the first couple of minutes. The reason you can't edit for longer than that is so that you can't go back and make later comments look stupid or seem to be out of context.

Sometimes you cannot edit comments period, (yes it is my own) immediately after posting a comment, I read it and discovered I had pasted in a time in the middle of my sentence. Like this (Audio: 2:30 ) only to discover, No edit button! So it looks terrible, oh well!
