On one of those stupid myspace bulletins I saw that there's a sport where people take bats/blunt objects and hit baby seals in the head as some sort of sport hunting... is this real?

It is not a sport!! They club the babies with white fur so as not to put bullet holes in the fur, so fur makers can have a perfect fur. They kill the baby seals for their beautiful white fur. I don't know for a fact that they use the meat. I would like to see proof of that. Some people claim it to be so. It is one of the most brutal things I think I have ever seen. Of course, most of this answer is just my opinion. Some people on this website really don't appear to like other people to state their opinions. I guess if you write it on the internet it is automatically FACT! I didn't know that and will be sure to be more careful in the future so I don't piss off the teacher.

I actually saw the same thing on a MySpace bulletin a couple of days ago. It's real and it's disgusting and sick. A sport is defined as "an activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively." Where is the exertion in this? Where is the skill? People do the dumbest, cruelest things. What kind of idiot thought of this!? You have to be a sick person to find any kind of joy from killing defenseless animals. Why don't they go wrestle a bear? There's a challenge for ya. Anyhow, whoever plays this "sport", I'd love to be the one to hit them in the head with a bat. :) I'm sure you weren't looking for a whole speach but it felt necessary.

unfortunately, it is real but they don't do it for sport, they do it for the fur! people still pay a lot of money for it. its very cruel they hit them instead of shooting them because they don't want to put any holes in the pelt

thats gross i hunt and love it but if you hunt hunt with a gun or a bow and arrow but trophy hunting does not bother me.

It's not a sport and it's not for fur, it is to control seal populations that could damage the fish population which feeds us! The fur is taken to make money on top of the killing that needs to be done so we can eat fish too. If you have a problem with them taking only the fur, you should take up eating seal meat... or using products that use seals in their production...

Seal Clubbing is a sport often mistaken as the brutal practice of beaning baby seals in the head with a blunt object. The Seal Clubbing which is probably meant is the practice of taking baby seals to clubs with you. People in Hollywood do it and it helps them attract mates. The people, not the seals.. But in California you never know. Anyway, it's true. I read it on the internet.
