It's difficult to tell exactly what the problem is from here but I have a few suggestions that may help: - concentrate on exercise as a way to lose weight, rather than diets. In general it's easier to form a habit than to lose one, so starting to jog or swim a few times a week will probably be easier for you to do than to try to cut out your sugary stuff. - Try slightly healthier sweet options. When you crave something sugary better options are strawberries and other fruit, almonds, dried fruit etc. Fruit is still fairly high calorie, but much better for you than chocolate or doughnuts and will help keep your vitamin and fibre levels high which will increase your general well-being. -Don't keep sugary foods in the house but keep lots of healthy ready-to-eat snacks. If you know you have to go out to get a bar of chocolate rather than just to the cupboard you're more likely to let the craving pass. - find other ways to treat yourself that don't involve food. Nice hot bubbly bath, walk in the park, visiting a friend, rent a video - use these whenever you get a craving instead. Having a cup of herbal or fruit tea can also help. - Make sure you're eating three decent sized meals a day. Include slow burning carbohydrates (wholegrains such as brown rice) to keep your energy levels constant, and low fat protein (lean meat, fish, tofu, pulses) plus lots of crispy veggies. - Adding fenugreek powder to food is supposed to reduce a sweet tooth. Worth a try! - consult your doctor or dietician - it is remotely possible you have a blood sugar problem causing your cravings and they will be able to test for this and suggest solutions.

Cut the foods that you crave out of your diet completely. Go cold turkey on the sugary foods. I used to have problems with emotional eating and sugar addiction that led me to gain an enormous amount of weight after my last child was born. So what did I do? I cut sugar out of my diet completely! Check out the Atkins website www.atkins.com for some ideas on how to jump start your sugar-free lifestyle and what foods to eat to keep you feeling full all day so you aren't craving sugary snacks.

You can load up on pretty much all of the raw vegetables you want and not gain weight. If you can go a week sugar, not just sugary foods, the cravings will go away. Sugar sneaks in in many processed foods as high fructose corn syrup, or regular corn syrup. Check your labels.

My dietician has said I can eat anything I want, as long a I limit it to a very small amount. We had a discussion about how many french fries I am allowed to eat. She said will three be enough? I said no, I could not possible stop at three. So, how about 4? No, four wouldn't be enough either. So, can you eat only five and stop there. Yes, I think I can. Here's how it works for me. I eat one french fry and then six or eight bites of the "free" food, salad. Then one french fry, and more bites of salad. It is solely a matter of where I can be comfortable. My biggest treat is sausage. I cut two sausages into about 10 bites, and then eat the bites one at a time, along with the low fat, low calorie foods that are "free". It really works.

I'm the same way. I've found that when I eat sugar or starchy foods like bread and pasta I keep wanting more so definitely try to abstain from whatever your trigger foods are. Also you can look up Over eaters Anonymous, It's just regular people with the same problem who meet and share their issues, support, and solutions.
