  • And then be arrested for treason? Solders can't just "lay down their weapons and go home." They kinda have to obey orders.
  • I'm not sure how they would GET home without the support of the US Government, but yes, I wish they would/could!
  • Nope sorry; I don't think that is the answer.
  • Neg'd. This question shows that you have absolutely no understanding of how the US military works - the soldiers who did that would immedietly be thrown in jail and charged with a slew of things, in addition to dishonarble discharges (meaning no work after the military). What needs to happen is the people in charge of the military makes the decision to withdraw troops and bring them back home. Not showing support to the actual war is more than fine, not supporting the troops absolutely is not.
  • I cannot support US military personnel in disobeying orders, or setting a precedent to do so. Besides, immediate and total withdraw right now will result in full-blown civil war in Iraq between the factions. I cannot support something that will result in such a consequence. We shouldn't have gone, but that doesn't mean we can just leave our mess behind for others to suffer with.
  • I won't. I don't agree with the so-called "War on Terror", but the situation in Iraq is so unstable now that we've been in the picture for so long that if the soldiers DO leave, the entire country will fall into chaos and break out in civil war. Not to mention they would all be tried for treason, and I think the LAST thing we need is thousands of US soldiers. being thrown in jail. That's like asking for someone to attack us.
  • No. Altho' wars are horrible, horrible, horrible....so is torture and cruelty and oppression. The soldiers in the middle east right now are doing their best to protect the vast majority of people there who just want to get on with life, raise their children, and feel safe. In spite of the fighting, they know, I believe, that life under the Taliban is unbearable. Especially for women. And that extreme so-called-religious oppression must be stopped.....it will spread across the globe insidiously...and it is very possible that 2 generations from now, we women could all be forced to wear burka...and street executions would be commonplace for anyone standing up to the warlords.
  • You have a strange definition of "courage."
  • I am a wife of an army soldier and I wish everyday the war would end. The deployments have been extended to 15 months now and we have a 17 month old son. My husband has been overthere and seen first hand how it is. He says the media makes it bigger than it really is and focuses on the negative and never mentions the good things our troops and our country is doing. Bu how do you have the right to say they should just drop their wepons and go home.....Don't you think they want to do that? Instead of trying to act like they shoul walk out and risk never having a job the rest of their lives take action and protest....write a letter to congress....don't down play the hard work our troops put in. Have you been over there?
  • Your wrong so why don't you grow up.
  • The U.S. (and Allied)troops show more courage every day than most of us will ever know. Your question shows just how ignorant and ill informed you are. They cannot just "lay down their weapons and go home".
  • I only wish it was that easy.
  • You are blinded by your ideology to the point where you can't even recognize mass murderers and torturers for what they are. Your arrogance as to the rightness of your views is astonishing. Your implicit contempt for the servicemen & women over there is disgusting.
  • Its nice to think that way, but you can't be signed up for the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or any other organization of the like in the USA and not be subject to the consequences. I forget the term (awol?) but for running away from their CONTRACT they signed, they could get in severe trouble.
  • this is the stupidist most ignorant question i have ever heard i think you need to go get educated before you say anything else thanks the iron man
