  • Well - I am a bit prejudiced - my Mom has worked for John Deere for 25 years so this one to me is a Noooo brainer :)
  • Blank, you have five horses don't you? Just let them roam free and pick up the fertilzer when they are done. I think God makes the best riding lawn-mower.
  • I have a Grasshopper Commercial zero turn radius mower. If you have a large lawn, it is well worth it !! It cut my mowing time in half and does and excellent job . Grasshopper, Scag, and Toro make great zero turn radius machines. As far as riding lawn tractors, I'd pick John Deere. "Not the ones at Home Depot though."
  • scagg wildcat or turf tiger
  • I like the John Deere Mowers + 5 for you Blank Savage
  • Craftsman, no question. I subscribe to Consumer Reports online. I search for rating and info on things I don't know about.
  • I have a Craftsman lawnmower. I am happy with it. One problem with it is low wheel traction when going up a sloping ground. The wheel tends to just slide instead of roll up. Otherwise I have no problems with it.

  • I used to work for the TORO Company and a little partial to their mowers. My personal experience with the "personal pace" mower has been excellent. I have had this mower for about 5 years now and it starts the first time 9 times out of 10. When this one goes, I will get the same one again.
  • Sheep:)
  • we have had a Toro...but now have a John Deere Diesel...it powers through 15 acres of lawns no trouble...
  • it depends how you intend to use the mower, and the area that need to be mowed. For example a formal lawn would require a rolling mower such as a Countax or an Atco with a seat attached. If you only have a small area, then it is pointless spending a fortune on a mower. We have a Lawnflite 705, we have a couple of acres and it suits the job just fine. However there are many good brands, Simplicity, Stiga, Husquevana, John Deere. It is also important to consider than many mowers are made by the same company and branded differently to appeal to different markets. Also if grass storage is an issue, then it can be worth paying more to get a decent self mulching mower such as the stiga, however in such instances it is important to remember on,y to reduce the height of the grass by a third each time in order to disguise any dropping. self mulching mowers also benefit the lawn, as the clipping act as a fertiliser. A zero turn mower, with a front mounted deck is good for areas with tight turns. Also remember not to get a mower that is too big, as it then reduces the usefulness of it.
  • i am a commercial landscaper, cost aside: Exmark and Scag. hands down, best mowers, commercial landscapers use them everyday for 5 years straight down south, and still sell them for 1000 dollars. thats the thing with them, they are expensive, but the resale value is next to none, you won't get thtat with a JD homeowner ride on. you'll spend a but load and it will last you 10 years. commercial mower, if you take car of it, you'll never buy another mower, ever
  • The first thing that you have to do is asset what your needs are. Examples are; How big is the space you are cutting? How much are you using the mower. In Atlanta I had just over 1/4 acre to mow and I used a lawn boy push mower with grass catcher and it was the best mower that I had used. It did a great job and always started quickly. When I lived in Florida and had 2.5 acres of land, I used the John Deer riding mower with 54" blade because I had hardly any trees. If I had more trees I would have used the Toro 0 radius turn. When I owned a landscaping company and did high use, grasshoppers with 0 radius turn because they were more commercial at the time. When you go to buy one, read consumer reports and also look at the time usage and take into accountability what all is is in your yard and how big.
