  • I am clearly not a woman, So I have never had a tubal ligation. I have, however, had a mother 2 sisters and a wife who have all had laproscopic tubal ligation, and can confirm with authority, that they had no interruption of menstrual cycles. (They talk, you know)... (I really didn't want to know that about my mother, by the way) All the ligation does is block the egg from dropping, and it is consumed by the body. 2 or three of the above mentioned women in my life, did get the "blues" from having this done. It was purely mental, according to the doctor, and about 8 to 10 percent of women who had it done "but weren't really ready", looked at it like it "I am barren" instead of "I am free of the <place contraceptive here>"... They got over it. I found it interesting, that the doctor told me the same thing about vasectomy. He said that 3% of men had erectile disfunction afterwards, because they were mentally challenged by the thought of not being fertile. He said "You could have some psychological problems". I said "I have five teenagers, I already have more psychological problems than I can handle"... "Cut 'em, Doc!"
  • It has to the extent that my cycle can be somewhat unpredictable, I am not menopausal.
  • My tubes were tied laparoscopically 7 years ago. It has affected my menstrual cycle, but not unexpected menopause, but it actually increased the number of days my cycle lasted. It use to last like normal, 3-4 days, now it has increased to 7-9 days and is more than unbareable and painful.
  • It effected EVERYTHING... Im really sorry that I had it done. I had it done 9 years ago. What I assumed was the responsable thing to do due to financial reasons and the time and quality of care I could provide to yet another infant at 30+ years old I thought I was doing the right thing. It messed me all up! Im afraid it is permanent and it sucks! Weight gain hormone imbalances menopausal symptoms but with increased flow, pain and clotting that I had NEVEr experienced before. Fibryoid tumors night sweats Horrid mood changes and depression. It sucks!
