No cars? Well I would certainly agree that drinking and driving is completely unacceptable. No exceptions. But without cars, society as we know it would come to a screeching halt. So, I don't truly understand what you are saying.

I might drink almost every night but I already learned that lesson the hard way and I never drink and drive. That's why I don't go to bars at all. I drive to the store and then back home. I don't need to go to a bar because I can have a hella good time conversing with my people here than with some incoherent idiot sitting on a bar stool. Yes Stewie, I just had my first beer tonight.

Personally, I wouldn't have a problem with the "no alcohol" part of this bit. But to offer this argument as analogous to "no guns = no gun deaths" walks into shaky territory. The PURPOSE of guns is primarily to kill living things. While they can be used for other purposes as well, that's their main function. Both hunting live game and shooting human beings have moral implications that are not present in the primary function of cars (or alcohol). Really, this kind of "mock metaphor" doesn't help your cause of defending guns, because it stretches the moral issues too far from their relevance. While I don't advocate eliminating guns, I do advocate regulating them very heavily: these are very dangerous items whose primary purpose is to kill. Society as a whole as a very vested interest in and right to manage the way they are manufactured, distributed, and maintained. The unrestricted right to bear arms is grounded in the illusion of separateness of the individual: a mindset which ignores the reality of human relationships and psychology.

I know and if there were no roads then there wouldn't be any pot holes to fill with water = no innocent child drowning deaths :) Hell when are we gonna do this for gun? ;)
