  • No, but I'd imagine it would be dark, wet, and scary.
  • The forces applied in a "black hole" are very massive. The gravitation is so great that even light can't escape it (hence the name: "Black hole"). The "problem" is that a black hole doesn't only bend light, but also space-time. You can think about it as if our universe is a large piece of rubber stretched as far as the eye can see - planets would be marbles on the piece of rubber (creating dimples which represent the gravity according to Einstein - as the bending of space-time). A Black hole in this "picture" would be sticking a nail all the way to the floor, so that the "dimple" is a deep, narrow hole. If, by accident, you happen to get into one, your fate is quite sealed. You would not be able to get out, and you would be stretched practically infinitely, until you, well, sadly, get ripped apart. The "problem", here, again, is space-time. Time itself is slowing down, according to theory, which means that it would take you a very very very long time to be ripped apart. Your mind, however, will also slow down (because time itself slows). So - the way I understand it, at least - you would appear to others (they won't quite see you, though) as if your body takes millenias to be ripped apart, but for you, it would probably take seconds. There's a really good summary about Black Holes in wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_hole Hope that answered it.. kinda.. ;) ~moo
  • Not really. That's a current hotbed of theoretical science as to what actually occurs inside a black holes event horizon. We can't ever really know what occurs inside. For a person however we would be long dead before we reached the event horizon as the tidal gradient is such that if you were to go in feet first at one point your feet would be experiencing a larger pull than your head and graviational forces would rip you in half.
  • No, but I do wonder what happens when you'd hit the side of it...is it like a wall? I argue with my hubby about it all the time and it's all just beyond my comprehension. (Saw the Black Hole movie at the planetarium in Chicago this weekend....pretty much just zoned out and looked at the pretty stars! lol)
  • No, just like I don't wonder what it would be like to be in a giant blender. Both events would be rather unpleasant. :) Wormholes would be much nicer. :)
