  • I think that hate crime is the most cowardly, evil crime possible. I don't believe in the death penalty, but I do believe that those who commit hate crimes should be locked up forever.
  • your dad would never live to see an amendment.
  • I support this legislation but it must be cognizant of the liberties granted to us under the First Amendment. It'll be tricky to know when the line has been crossed as I'm sure some loving groups such as the Triple K have a legal team ready to defend their rights. This will create a lot more debate I am for sure. I do support the Law against it as would most anyone else but we'll have to see where they draw the lines.
  • It seems to me like a discriminatory law that says all vicims of crime are not equal and entitled to the same protection under the law. Why, for example, should a racist be prosecuted for the special crime of targeting blacks, while the Unabomber is not subject to special prosecution for his hatred of scientists and business executives? The only answer is that the Unabomber's ideas are considered more "politically correct" than the racist's. I prefer to think that all human life is deserving of equal protection under the law. I believe the lives of my children are as valuable as the lives of my neighbor's children.
  • I would agree with your father. Why should it be more acceptable for me to kill you for your money than to kill you because your race? There is no good reason to commit a crime, so it makes no sense treating race based crimes differently than non-race based crimes.
  • I think your dad is correct.
