  • I think computers help lonely people who can not get out as much as they use too. But I think that shy people need to get out and meet people in a social manner!!!!!!!!!
  • It can be taken both ways. For example, me and my brother. We are both not very social. I go on the computer a lot and by meeting new people, it has helped me to network and meet new friends, some of which I have met in real life. However, my brother is a different story. He's gone the opposite direction. Now, all he does is sit in front of the computer and play a game. He has hardly any friends and neglects basic daily things like taking a shower and changing his underwear. Ewww!
  • Ideally, it should serve as an opportunity to practice social and conversational skills in a low-pressure setting. It's awesome to meet and make friends in the online arena, but human contact is also necessary. I think the lesson that a shy person can take from his or her online social life is that there is a great deal of fun to be had by reaching out. Also, if a person manages to find friends online, that should be a reassurance that his or her personality is strong enough to support a network of friendships, and that people are truly interested in what he or she has to say.
  • i think computers help i'm not a social person, and i met my fiance online, i love him so much, without the computer, i wouldn't have him ^.^ i think it can prevent some people from meeting "real" people, but thats only people who don't really need to use the computer, thats in my opinion at least...
  • I think a computer is a wonderful tool. I have met people from all over the world so I will say it is a wonderful asset. I do tend to spend hours on the computer so in that regard it is a crutch also for me, I feel like I am chatting with people but it is not face to face so I do not get that kind of interaction which is valuable but not necessarily essential to me. However, since I am normally shy I am happy with the arrangement.
