Can you take a compliment, or are you the type that thinks people who give them are out for an alterative motive?

I take a compliment at face value. =)

I accept them regardless of motive. Someone else's motive is not mine to judge! Time will tell if the compliment was meanigful.

I accept them either way. Whether I'm suspicious of an ulterior motive would depend on who is giving them.

I have a difficult time accepting a compliment graciously. Either I think they are full of beans or that I am not worthy of the praise. Most times, I will spin the compliment into some self-depricating humor, that is just the way I be.

I don't think there's a motive behind it , usually , but i can't seem to take them. I don't know wether to say 'thanks' or end up just saying no and making a joke about it.

No I don't take compliments well....they make me uneasy but I don't think anyone has any motives behind it other than they are being kind.

I accept compliments graciously and never think that people have any motive other than to compliment me. I know that is the only reason I give them, so I would naturally assume that is the reason they are given to me as well.

I don't really think that there's an alterier motive, but, I do have a hard time taking them. I didn't recieve very many as a child, and that makes it harder as an adult to accept them I think. Sometimes I'm not sure how to take them. I just say thank you as graciously as I can.

I have learned to simply say "thank you" and leave it at that.

I accept, but I can normally tell if the person is just saying what I want to hear. I usually can tell the sincere ones:)

I love to give and receive compliments so I think I take them pretty well..unless they are the kind of compliments where you can tell they are saying it fake.

I am kind of too self-demanding gal. If I get a compliment I should sense if it has some grounds. LOL Then I feel it's sincere and take it with gratitude. For example, a friend called my hubby and me "giving people". I know why .. she does have grounds to say that.
