Is Answerbag considered a "chat room" or is there a different designation for it? This is my only experience interacting with others on the internet and I love it and all my friends. Are other sites like this where one can make such good friends?

Conversations in chat rooms take place in real time. Whatever everybody that is active in the chat types is displayed immediately and it can be very fast moving. In Answerbag comment threads there can be gaps of months between one comment and the next, so Answerbag isn't a chat room. I think it's called something like a social networking site.

i wouldnt say this is a chatroom....but you can still talk to people.i hope its not considered a chat room, cos if it is, im sure theyl block it off the computer!

I have been to about 10 other sites like this and this one is the only one I've seen that you can comment back and forth and make deep friendships like we all have here , I love it here to + 5

If you are looking for straight chat there are other options. But, you are a smart lady and would probably get bored (as I do) with something like AOL chat. And Yahoo chat is just FULL of morons. I like to be on here and email back and forth with certain people (and IM back and forth with some). That to me is the perfect balance. However, I honestly haven't checked what else is available. There could be a chatroom of intelligent, interesting people that exists. I wouldn't know.

It's more like a forum to me, also a "collaborative database". That it is addictive, fun and you get to know pretty cool, friendly people is an added bonus. Don't go anywhere Rosie. "If it ain't broke..." : )

I used to be a voracious Yahoo Answers user. But eventually I found it boring, so now I'm here at Answerbag. I'm telling you, Answerbag is way much better. It's not exactly a chatroom, but users can comment on one another's questions and answers. You can't do that in Yahoo Answers. Once Yahoo Answers decides that your question or answer calls for, or resembles chatting, you will be penalized. I had good friends at Yahoo Answers, but there's so much hate there too. I find Answerbag friendlier.

Hi, Rosie, and welcome. No, we are not really a "chatroom" (lol) But after you have been here a while, you will become friends and "aquaintances" of many folks. And that is OK. Some of the comments will begin to seem like "chats". But it is best to keep your comments focused on the topic and not too long. Hope you enjoy Answerbag. We are mostly good folks, here. Tom

Rosie, if you're a Sports fan, you can always join a forum. I spend time on a Spurs board. People can be nice, but they can also be abusive and raunchy (that's sports fan for you). I'd suggest a moderated board. Also, whatever else interests you, film, art....there will be forums for those where you can make good friends.
