My hubby likes to do it himself, but once in a while we pay the kid next door $20 to do it. We have a little over a third of an acre.

We just moved, so I'm not sure about now. But our old house was on an acre and we paid a kid down the street 40 bucks to mow the lawn.
-
Nope, I cut my own.

We don't have lawns here, they would take too much water. I do my own garden maintenance though.

I would freak if someone mowed my lawn... It takes me 6 hours, 9 CD's (Or 120 MP3's) and a 12 pack of beer. It is roughly 5 acres with lots of trees to dodge... It is my therapy.

We only pay for the front, which is about a quarter-acre and costs $40 outside of Washington, DC, an area where the cost of living for everyone (including the guys who actually do the mowing) is very, very high.

My son does it now, and I don't pay him. If he does it without complaining when I ask him, I give him a reward of some kind but I do not pay him to do a chore that must be done.

Yes, we have a lawn service. They charge $32 each time.
