Thats only when the weather gets REALLY bad and does not normally happen in the south.
It does happen in the north though.
We have separate tires for winter and summer, our winter tires have studs in them :)

That sounds very nice. My mom paints, too and I just jokingly said if I shipped her my mailbox, would she paint it. Next thing you know, I'm shipping her the box and I just got it back. She painted log cabin scenes with lakes and boats and bears, birch trees and waterfalls. It's awesome!!! It's almost too pretty to place out on the street! LOL!! Moms are great, aren't they:-)

I've got post-it notes with some of my favorite sayings and things to remember, hanging from the shelf where my printer sits. I think it's all going to change though. I was next door up in the barn looking at our 'stuff' and trying to figure out how to fit all that furniture i don't want to get rid of and I'm thinking of turning an armoire into a PC cabinet lol!!! Antique lovers will be rolling over in their graves:-)

Well I know how much I paid for it (or paid part of it) and it was a bundle back then in the 70s. But I just don't know where to put it. We have tall ceilings but it just doesn't fit in the bedroom anymore. I'm more Asian in there and it's definitely NOT Asian. It's from Belgium, all rosewood and almost 9 feet tall, Louis something or other. I love it and hate to part with it but I just can't find a spot in this little house:-( And it did get damaged just before we moved here to NY in an earthquake. The doors popped off and the top bounced up and tore some of the wood inlays. I may try to find someone that can fix it and ask them what they think, if I just drill one little hole for power:-)...... and add a pullout shelf for the keyboard.....very carefully?

My niece lives across the road & an antique shop. She's told me of a fellow who is good & not expensive. I may inquire soon. I have to figure out how to get a quote because it's in pieces upstairs in the barn not good shape:-( Do I bring it to him? Drag him up there? I hadn't been worrying about it until I worked up there yesterday and saw what bad shape many things are. All the heat, humidity, and freezing cold for 3 years hasn't been kind to some of our things. We've got Keith's dad's desk that just can't stay in there another winter. It's huge, has these big gargoyles on the sides (not as bad as it sounds but still scary lol!) but it's been in the family forever....have to put it somewhere. But the good news was I found some favorite things I had looked for and hadn't found like a big beautiful hand made bowl that survived the earthquake by the slimmest of margins. Keith found it and gave it to me & I was, silly thing I am, just giddy. I kept staring at it in my hands. I'm happy.

Oh, sweetie..I implore you to do what you need to do to save those treasures..bring him in and offer him the opportunity to help restore your treasures to their deserved former glory/beauty..if he loves what he does he will be honored at your giving him the opportunity to help save the beauty of the past..once they are gone that's it..:)

I'll do my best. My heart is broken at how some of those things look. A night stand I had made for Keith with a beautiful faux marble top had mice living in it:-( I've got to try to ignore that this is a construction zone and just bring them home I think. And get to be good friends with a restorer. Time is running out for winter, isn't it? If things work out, I'll take some photos and share them with you, okay?

Oh, that would be great, sweetie. My sister has a table my grandfather made with inlaid top..I have a chair he made for which my grandmother did the needlepoint. We treasure those pieces...:) I look forward to seeing those pictures..you'll probably notice the tears of joy through your monitor! :)

You're welcome, sweetie..backatcha..boy do I wish we were neighbors! I'd be there by your side digging through the stuff and seeing what we could rescue/repair/restore. I grew up with oriental rugs, finely crafted furniture (courtesy of my grandfather and to a certain extent, my uncle)..walking into my grandparents home was almost like going to a museum..my grandfathers made pictures out of nothing but pieces of wood..marquetry..from a distance they looked like paintings..it wasn't until you got up close that you noticed it was all wood..lips, eyelashes, everything..they were amazing..so I very much value and appreciate anything like that! :)
