  • That should be answered by the pediatrician. Children grow at different rates. If the child is otherwise healthy with normal weight and height I would let him or her decide how much. Babies will let you know if they have had enough just make sure you follow their cues and don't try to encourage them to finish a bottle. Again assuming they are healthy.
  • Look at the box of formula! That is the best indication of how much to feed him. Make it to the specifications on the box and just let him/her eat as much as he/she wants. Also, at 3&1/2 months he/she should still be breast feeding, but thats a different story.
  • First of all, I will answer your question. I have been there also and although you probably already found an answer maybe it will help others: Birth to 1 week 6 to 10 1 to 3 ounces 1 week to 1 month 7 to 8 2 to 4 ounces 1 month to 3 months 5 to 7 4 to 6 ounces 3 months to 6 months* 4 to 5 6 to 7 ounces 6 months to 9 months 3 to 4 7 to 8 ounces 10 months to 12 months 3 7 to 8 ounces Around 4-6 months you'll add some cereal and solid foods also. Now, to address the "should still be breastfeeding" response: That sounds a little judgemental and is completley inappropriate response to a new mom. You have no idea why she is using formula.
  • My son is 14 weeks he drinks about 6.5 or 7.5 oz 5 or 6 times a day. He also has acid reflux so we also add a tsp of rice to his first bottle of the day and the last bottle of the day right before bed. Per the Dr's advice. He's a super happy baby. It took was awhile to get to this point because he would fall asleep and not finish his bottles which would make him want to eat every 2 hours ahhhh....It does get better once you can get a routine down :)
  • My daughter started eating 7 oz at 1 month old and was taking a bottle ever 3-4 hours, she went to 8 oz shortly there after. She is now 5 months old and her milk intake has decreased since starting her on cereal and baby food. She started cereal at 3 months and then baby food at 4 months and is now only drinking two 6 oz bottles and two 8 oz ones.
