I use Olive Oil on my labs nose 3 times daily, I started off at 4 times and only 2 weeks later his nose is looking good. I must note that he has a dudley nose and he is only 5 months young.

My dog, a Samoyed mix, has a similar problem. His nose is losing pigment and he recenly had an outbreak of blisters around the nose, which our vet put him on steroids for. The condition is called discoid lupus, and may be what your dog is having. What we do for my dog is: -- He takes tetracycline (a weak antibiotic) and niacinamine (500 mg - a B3 vitamin supplement) three times a day. This is a preventative our vet put him on. -- I put Hyland's Calendula cream on his nose everyday. Calendula has healing properties, which may help your dog. -- The vet has us put SPF 45 Waterbabies on his nose every day. This has pretty much stopped the pigment loss. We also try to keep him out of the sun, which isn't hard. He hates to be too hot, so he normally heads for shade whenever he's outside. The other thing I'm about to start trying is a homeopathic remedy using Sulphur and Aurum Mets. It's part of a kit from the Natual Canine website -- you might check it out there. I can't say yet whether it's going to work, but I really don't want to have to put him on steroids again. He was so miserable during the month he had to take them. He was ravenous all the time and drinking so much water he kept having accidents in the house. Best of luck to you!

Take him off the steroids. Could be a sinus problem because his nose is dry and cracked. Any issues with his upper canine teeth? Check those. Try a little Vaseline just above his nose. It will make its way to his nose and keep it moist.

This could indicate a condition similiar to Lupus in people. A vet will confirm with tests. My sheltie/cocker mix has this. The vet will treat with niacinimide and tetracycline. The medication doesn't cost much at all. Hope this helps

Join the Free group and contact the moderator, Magda. She was just recently able to help out a lady and her dog whose nose was a right mess, with little blister-like things that were bleeding. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/ClassicalHomeopathyPets/?yguid=354615195 All of the products you describe here, are no more than "band-aids" treating the symptoms, and leaving the core problem, that is causing the symptoms, to run along untreated.

Coconut oil might help.

you can try taking your dog to the vet to get it checked out and they can refer you to some different kinds of creams or possibly something..

This may sound stupid but have you tried baby oil and then natural cocobutter cream or bio oil...This should at least keep the skin from getting dry and sore... My dog got a crack on her pad which kept bleeding and this is what i did and it worked...
