Brittany Spears might take exception to that.

No. I think parents have a responsibility to teach their kids that celebrities are not role models!!

I think we all have a responsibility to be good role models for kids... but I wouldn't make that a special activity. Someone who is doing their best and considering others in how they live their life is already a good role model, there's no need to tie a bow on it for the children. There's a lot of support for the notion that everyone is free to do their own thing as long as they don't hurt others -- but the trouble with that idea is it presumes a separation between "myself" and "others" which is absolute. This is an illusion -- there is no absolute separation possible, we're all living in the same lifeboat, and our actions affect each other in intricate ways which can't possibly be sorted out neatly into "my business" and "other's business". This question illustrates that interdependence: OK, you're just doing your own thing, you're not hurting anyone... but children are watching and looking up to you. So is it still just "your own thing"? I think this popular notion is obsolete. Well actually, I think it was never correct in the first place. Appropriate action always reflects an awareness that your actions affect others. There's no escaping that, and "I'm doing my own thing, leave me alone" is a cognitive malfunction: the kids are watching, and so are the adults.

No. There is a problem when a child takes the by and large sorry excuse and bad acting (no pun intended) individuals we call celebrities as role models. A parent should try to be a good role model for a child. We seemed to have placed a television in front of our children and expect it to raise them. Given thye sad state of affairs in hollywood, I do not believe that is the best place for a child to find a role model.

no they are entainer people who work with children are there role models parents should teach children how to pick good role models by being good ones themself

It is the parents responsibility to teach their children to be good citizens. That would include teaching children who and who not to see as role models.

no sorry I think this 'role model' thing is so over done its a joke ...they are sports stars or actors/actresses and thats fine and they maybe great to look up to and admire for there prowess in their given fields ... but real life ? come on and I know that if I was a sports star or in entertainment I would not want to be a role model at all ...and does anyone ask them in the first place ... no ! its put on them whether they like it or not ...and not just in the chosen field by into their private life as well .. now thats just going way to far

No.They are also normal people as we are. they don't have responsibility to be a role model. Some of celebrities actions are also not worth imitating.

yes if a child looks up to an athlete or celebrity they should be a positive role model. Athletes and celebrities are responsible for being positive role models. Many people look up to celebrities. These famous figures consume our lives these days. Writer Jancee Dunn admitted, “I know more about celebrities than I do my own relatives. People should focus on learning about friends and family members rather than worship tabloid stars.” . Sadly enough, knowing every little detail about celebrities has become a normal thing these days. Not a day goes by without a hot new item of gossip about appealing celebrities that makes headlines crossed the nation. We get our hair, clothes, accessory style. We watch them fight alcohol and drug addictions but yet still drink alcohol or do drugs to be like them. Even though we see them in pain we fighting these addictions, we look at their lifestyle and strive to mirror their everything, good or bad. if it doesnt prove that celebrities are responsible for being positive role models i dont know what does.have become heroes, role models and modern-day gods.so its thier responsibility to act like a good role model i hope this answers your question i did a report on thisso
