  • The Academy holds a lottery every year to select who may purchase tickets to the Awards Ceremony. In order to enter the lottery, you must be a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (there are over 6,000 of them) For those members that enter and win the lottery, they receive two tickets apeice, at a face value of $100-700. The only way for an individual that IS NOT a member of the Academy to attend the event is to go as a guest of a member. The members must sign an agreement not to transfer or sell their tickets. The Academy filed a lawsuit last year against ticket brokers who offered a pair of Oscar tickets to Academy investigators for around $30,000.
