  • Well if they're dressed at work well then it's not hot if anything it's too cold inside this building! But I feel naked if I don't have something underneath my button down shirt
  • Many men in the US do wear undershirts - or plain white t-shirts under their dress shirts. I think largely they do it to try to keep the sweat from keeping through to their dress shirts. Partly, it's because in an office setting, particularly with computers, offices tend to be cool and no, they don't get hot. But I'm not a guy, and it's really hard to tell. Don't they do this elsewhere? I've always thought it was normal.
  • It's true, a lot of men wear the t-shirt or tank (wife-beater...I hate that name) underneath their dress shirts. This goes back a long long time, and is perhaps part of the puritan ethic of this country. Since I'm not a guy, I can't say whether they get hot or not, but it doesn't seem to matter.
  • I think it's the normal thing to do, because of sweating and that's how I was brought up. I'll have to check out some English TV programs.
  • Many men wear undershirts, for formality, comfort, or to keep their dress shirt clean. Undershirts protect against clothing damage, odor and perspiration. Sometimes it's to keep the underlying body from showing, nipples, chest hair etc... Some times it's just because that's what their fathers did! :)
