  • Proselytism is the practice of attempting to convert people to another opinion, usually another religion. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proselytism to convert or attempt to convert as a proselyte; recruit. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/proselytize
  • Proselytising is common on Answerbag's religious and political sections, where members frequently use all sorts of tactics, ranging from the subtle to the outrageously insulting, in attempts to get people with a different set of political or religious beliefs to convert to the beliefs of the questioner. Whenever one explains one's own beliefs one becomes liable to allegations of proselytising.
  • It is all that has been said already and more! I have been accused many times and obvioussly do not believe that I am guilty. But to proselytise is an arogant attitude that even though you believe yourself to be right (and there is nothing wrong with that) then another person has to be bashed into submission and brought under the spell of your belief system. That is not confined to religion and politics but also debatable issues concerning science, commerce, entertainment and anything else where passions run high.
  • Preaching / teaching people the good news... (Matthew 24:14) And this good news of the Kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come. So what is ending? Its this present system...every aspect of it... And it will be replaced by acceptable people using their own conscience to be obedient to Jehovah's laws... (Psalm 37:9) For evil men will be done away with, But those hoping in Jehovah will possess the earth. (Psalm 37:29) The righteous will possess the earth, And they will live forever on it.
  • Attempt to convert someone from one religion, belief, or opinion to another.

No one should be forced to ' convert'...that is what the RCC did with the south American Indians in the 15/16 th centuries... But when a person has the full facts they can choose to change their own ways..they convert themselves.
  • The way I understand it is that it means to tell everybody about Jesus. Only the readers-listeners can decide for themselves. It is their choice.
