If you are a carnivore, Ruth's Chris is certainly important, and for desert you can go around the corner to Fogo de Chao for some more meat - both top-ranked eateries.

Do not leave Chicago without going to Cafe Iberico on North LaSalle. It's a Spanish tapas bar/restaurant with a fantastic, intimate atmosphere and *the* best tapas you can find in Chicagoland. Tapas is a dining format where you order a number of portions that you share among the people at your table. It's fun and you get to try lots of delicious dishes. Plus, sharing food makes it taste better! I'd recommend the patatas ali-oli (potatoes with white sauce), champinones a la plancha (grilled muchrooms), croquetas de pollo (ham and chicken puffs), and the queso de cabra (goat cheese). For dessert, the platano al caramelo (caramel banana) and the filloa de helado y crema (crepe with ice cream and fruit). Enjoy! http://www.cafeiberico.com

You have to go to either Giordano's or Gino's for Chicago style stuffed pizza. If you LOVE dessert, try TRU. It is Gale Gand's restaurant. Trotter's is also a very well know restaurant. Do you want "Chicago" food, or upscale food?
