It is highly unlikely that there is a law requiring anyone of the general public to go to the doctor as many people can not afford it even once a year. However there may be certain groups of people that are under the authority of a state to go to the doctor, like people under a certain age, under Medicare, or on assistance. You don't say what state you are in but I do know that for instance the state of Texas has certain laws in place that make you have to go to the doctor, like if you are underage and have tested positive for lead you have to have checkups until your levels are brought down. How much say so does the state have in your life right now? Did you test positive for anything unusual? That could be it. But if you are just an average person with nothing unusual I would say it's not true. Call up your local hospitals and ask around. They'll tell you.

It was probably the nurse and she just did what nurses do best. Lie.

I've never heard of a law like that in any state. Maybe they were referring to an internal office policy?
