They never prohibited it but years ago if you drove a foreign car to work they would make you park at the far end of the lot and you would have to walk a long ways to get in(not good in the winter) Sometimes you would find your car a little damaged...It's not that way anymore

No. They would be a fool to drive the cars they build. Look in their parking lots. About 50% foreign. Outta tell u something.

wow, but gm gives such a good family discount. id be surprised if someone could validate getting a different make for the difference in price. i guess youd have to really care about cars. but then, who cares more about cars than people who work at car places, like gm.

I work for GM at the Proving Grounds in Michigan. A GM employee can purchase any vehicle they choose and drive any vehicle to work with one exception. If you are an employee with drive on privileges (the ability to drive right to your building) You cannot drive a non GM vehicle on site. This group is mostly first level supervisors. The next step up are managers who get a company vehicle as part of their compensation. One thing to note about my location is the contract employee population. GM has limited loyalty to theese people so the reverse is true as well. If a contract person drives their Toyota to work it is understood why. This is how it works where I am, but I know rules are different at other locations. A UAW facility is more than likely less tolerant of non GM (or UAW for that matter) vehicles. I drive GM and most of us do. BTW, Toyota had more recalls in 2007 than GM did.
