Considering the number of songs released each year, have two completely separate bands ever written basically the same tune?

    "I Want a New Drug" by Huey Lewis and the News and the "Ghostbusters" theme by Ray Parker Jr are pretty dang close.

    Aside from that, there must be a million songs using simple root-IV-V type progressions that sound basically the same.
