  • Well if you're positive you don't have a leak, then it's evaporation. Make sure your aquarium has a nice fitting top on it. You can add water to your aquarium every so often to compensate for evaporation. This is NOT considered a partial water change though. You will still need to do partial water changes of about 1/3 of the water monthly. Simply adding water back for evaporation and never freshening the water will result in hard water conditions. While existing fish will acclimate, new additions will go into shock.
  • Perhaps you have too much light shining in your aquarium.
  • It is evaporating. Take this into account when doing water changes. You need to replace 25% of the water and top up what evaporated. If you don't the harmful waste can concentrate. Try adding a lid to stop water evaporation from your fish tank.
