what I want to know is why people deny that holocausts are still going on to this very day.

Kinda like the genocide the Israelis are carrying out against the Palestinians all the while denying they are doing it...

Just goes to show people will believe anything...

Because those people hate the Jews. And believing that something so horrific happened to them would force the Anti-semitics to feel sympathy for the Jews. If you feel sympathy for something, that means it deserves your sympathy and thus is not inherently evil, it is now human. They deny the holocaust because believing the holocaust would make their unfounded hatred of the Jews look... well... ludacris.

I find the question strange in light of our own country's recent history. For no justifiable reason we invaded Iraq, were directly responsible for thousands of deaths of Iraqui citizens and then we re-elected the president responsible for this holocaust. Over 50% of the voters in the last general election re-elected the men responsible for this...and somehow were able to justify it in their own consciousness. Now I don't care what you think about Bush, there are many people who believe he has been the worst thing to happen to America since we became a nation. Others support him. Hitler had his supporters as well and he was able to stay in power from 1933 to 1945. So far, Bush has only been around 7 years. I would call this "denial".

Some people want to whitewash history. The white supremacists and some of the neo-Nazis are part of it (some of the neo-Nazis are proud of it, of course). Whitewashing history happens all the time. Unit 731 and the other Japanese "medical" experimental units were almost completely obliterated from history. The Highland Clearances were almost completely obliterated from history. The Tuskegee syphilis experiment... same thing. All of the above show the soft, white underbelly of various countries, including America. The only reason Unit 731 was not able to be completely hidden was because a few photographs survived it as well as a few witnesses who later spoke out. I have seen the propaganda the Holocaust deniers put out and they have actually gone into archival photographs and tried to prove mathematically that they are false. They are desperate to show Nazi Germany to have NOT have committed this massive crime. Well, I do not think that this attempt is going to be successful. Germany fully owns up to what happened and, in fact has taken extreme measures AGAINST Nazis. For example, it is illegal there to say Sieg Heil. American Holocaust deniers are going to continue and people (like me) are going to continue to make them look like idiots. I am one of those intrepid souls who wades into groups of them and demands them to prove it or shut up. They ALWAYS fall to racial slurs against me which proves that I win. When you cannot debate, insult. ;)
