  • Depends on what they're cutting. I have 2 Leathermen, both have straight and serrated blades, plus a saw. I also have a switchblade but I don't carry that one around much.
  • Nothing. It's not really that easy. I have a few friends that do, and just telling them not to and that there are people who care about them doesn't seem to help.
  • I would be really torn as to what to do - I would probably invite them to anything I had going on, try and let them know that I care about them - tough tough question -maybe try and get them to have a dialogue with a fellow ABer who knows what it's like to cut - I have not ever been part of that so it would be tough for me to relate personally. Best wishes to you ande your friend
  • The same I do for any of my friends -- listen to them and/or comfort them whenever they need it. I've known a lot of people who cut, myself included, so...
  • Just be there for him/her, theres nothing you can do other than that, i believe that if they ask me for help i would do anything i can and try to convince them to get into therapy but only if they are ready its not easy to accept that you needed help, so i would just listen, try to help them through the urges and get them help.
  • I would be sure to be there for them whenever they needed me and try to get them to see a professional..without being "pushy". I don't really know what causes people to cut themselves and if I tried to help them in any area other than friendship I would be afraid of doing more harm than good.
  • I would just be there for them. And only help them when they want to be helped. Quitting is a personal desicion and nothing anyone else can do can make them stop. That is why a good friend will be there for support and advice (only when asked). Cutters are people who need loads of emotional support.
  • i actually DO have a friend that cuts herself..make that two...lol. I threatened to tell her parents. It worked! I didn't try to be mean, i mean i love her and i would never want any harm to her
  • i would of talked to them in a quiet place and ask them why they are doin it, and also i would try to get helped, by taking them to counseling. I would always be there for for my friend no matter what!!!! i will help until he/she stops
