  • It think that everyone has their own 'normal' on this one...I'm a once-a-day kinda guy.
  • now i will answer my own question so can start it. Before the emergency surgery i was only going maybe once a MONTH!!! I was in emence pain all the time and doc's couldn't figure out why i was that way, i had colonoscapy's x-rays and they didn't find anything. Well one day i went in and had a temp of 104 and also in so much pain, they took an scan of me and found my colon in a knot. After the surgery, i go about 2 to 3 times daily. I don't know if that is normal or healthy and would like to know if i should go to a doc.

  • I wouldn't choose crazy thoughts for this question. It is a valid health related question. The answer could very well expose an underlying medical issue. In answer to your question, it depends, sometimes once in a 24 hour period, and sometimes more, depending on what I had to eat, and depending on the state of my health.

  • As often as you need to go. The body is self regulating. It truly depends on metabolism and diet. Normal for me is 3-4 small bm's in 24 hours. I know people who have a massive one every 2 -3 days, I feel that is a problem retaining all the toxins for far too long. According to current science the norm is 2 medium sized, soft to medium.

  • For a healthy digestive system a person should have at least three bowel movements a day. The first should be in the morning about 15 to 30 minutes after eating. The second should be somtime in the afternoon, the last should be somewhere around bedtime. This is based on eating three meals a day w/fruit and fiber in your diet. If you are going more or less than this, then you could have a unhealthy digestive tract, which can lead to other health problems.

  • For me, depends what I ate...sometimes 2 or three. Sometimes every other day. Sometimes it's soft and sometimes it's hard (the poop). My one dog goes twice a day, the puppy, who knows, but at least it's all on the paper. Is that enough information:)

  • At least once a day is healty. Anything less than that is not healthy. Bowel movements get toxins out of your body. If you don't get them out, they stay in your body. The buildup can cause chronic pain, cancer, sleep disorders, fatigue, depression. Pooping is more than getting rid of food. I go like 3 times a day.

  • I go 3-5 times a day. I really can't say if it's consistently hard or soft. It definitely varies as far as the consistentcy of it. In a way I'm glad that my body is always working to rid the waste/toxins, but at the same time, going 3-5 times a day usually becomes a big inconsistency. It's not so much the going part as the time I spend wiping. No matter how long it takes me, I will wipe and wipe until I see absolutely NO residue on the toilet paper. This sometimes takes so long that I end up being in the bathroom for long periods of time, which keeps me from have a mometous or productive day. My rectal also bleeds a lot from the excessive wiping, but it's either that or not rid of all the fecal matter in my rectal area. I wish there was a better way, because it's a real pain in the ass...no pun intended. Any advice for me would be highly appreciated?

  • Ever since I started taking protein supplements and earing more often, I blast off like 3-4 times a day. At first I was worried, but now it just seems normal. Whoever said it was relative was spot on.
  • Once a day is the minimum to be considered healthy. Seriously, if you were in a nursing home and you didn't go once per day they would start giving you "the recipe" for breakfast, which is really just prune juice and bran flakes mixed into warm beverage -- lookout below!
  • It all depends on your diet (how much and what you eat). When I'm at a healthy normal weight, I can poop like once a day, even skip one day. When I'm being a piggy and overweight, I can poop like two or three times in a day. Too many poops are not good (unless you are on a high fiber andvery healthy eating regimen). On average I think we should poop once a day. Those that only poop once a week have really bad eating habits, live on supplements or are starvnig themselves. I love a good poop.
  • I've been keeping tally, and I've reached 29 poops in 15 days... I'm on course to keeep up 2 a day today as well, I don't think this can be healthy, and am beginning to worry... but in most cases, I suffer with hangovers, and have been known to do 6 in a day post-drinking.
