The best person to ask that would be your friend. Each church expects different things in how its congregation dresses. While I believe any church should welcome you regardless of what you're wearing, it's respectful to dress as the members do. If you're in doubt and don't want to ask, I'd go for something in the middle -- maybe nice slacks and shirt.

Every church Ive been to wants you to wear nice clothes.

Go dressed comfortably but not offensively and if the people do not accept you for who you are do not return!

Wear what you want to present yourself as, and make sure you are true to yourself. If you are a conservative, mild mannered lady, wear a nice dress. If you are a rebel type girl, wear whatever. The key is to not make yourself or others feel odd about what you are wearing. Think like this. . would you put your hair in a mohawk to a job interview?

It depends on the church I guess. As a Catholic, I go to church casual but neat, but in my wife's family, which are southern Baptist, they dress up and were all kinds of fancy stuff to church. You might want to ask your friend what the attire is going to be.
