  • When you apply to take the state real estate exam they will do a background check. If you have a felony most of the time they will deny you a real estate license. But if you clearly state when you were charged, and what for in the application(because they do ask in the application) you could possibly still obtain the license, depending on the charge.
  • When you take your exam, your 'finger printing' fees include a background check. If you lie about the felony on your license app - you will for sure be declined. I am not sure about the acceptance on felonies...but I know that they aren't good. Even if you have had an insurance related misdemeanor you will be declined. Like the other person stated, you may want to include when/why and how it occured. When you get a position with a company it will come up again - so you really want to be completely honest. My company did a background check on ALL of thier employees along with the State of CA check at the testing facility.
  • You can't own a dog with a felony.. so to speak ;)
