One that doesn't fit in, usually with a bad reputation. Example: My brother is the blacksheep of our family because he is into drugs and booze and partying, he is 41, has been stoned since he was 15 and can't stay un-stoned enough to keep a job so he's always bumming money. But there are many other situations that could qualify one as a blacksheep. Most families have one. One of my uncles is concidered the blacksheep by a lot of my dad's family simply because he is gay and they are small-minded rednecked bigots.( I Love my uncle!) One of my friends is concidered the black sheep of her family just because she does not suck up to their grandfather just for money, power, status, etc. and does not want any part of her family's business.

Black Sheep is the name for a beer made in the North of England by a son who was theown out of the family brewing business so he set up his own brewery and makes a fantastic brew... hence black sheep.
