I have a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado K1500 w/ a 5.3 liter V8 engine and want to purchase a travel trailer. What is the heaviest trailer I can tow comfortably up hills to Tahoe etc?

Look in your manual, find your specific vehicle config, and it will tell you the max trailering weight for both hitch and 5th wheel. You don't mention single, ext. or crew cab, or 2/4x4. Those make a difference too. I would say around 8500lbs, but the factors I listed make a diff too. I have a 4.8L '06 Crew 1500 and it can tow about 7400. Always remember to certify that all towing components are sufficient. A truck can tow 14000lbs but if the hitch can only handle 2000....
