Well it would depend to some extent on WHY I was awarded the money. If it was because of some sort of injury I had suffered that meant I couldn't work and the money was for loss of earnings, then I would have to spend it on food, bills, rent and so on.

Pay what debt I have, pay off my wifes car note, take the family on a little shopping spree, maybe buy myself a few pair of pants and some new shoes, get my old pick up tuned up, and one quick trip to Reno would be nice. After that I still would have about 10 grand left and I'd take my wife on a few nice trips to far off lands that we have always talked about. She works hard and deserves it.

Use $10k to pay off my debt, use $5k to take a fabulous vacation, and then put the rest into savings.

I'd use the $ to help cover the cost I incrude for the reason I sued. (ie medical bills...)

Put a downpayment on a house and get rid of a few things on my credit report.

Give it to my parents. I owe them around $50,000.

Clear out my debt, first and foremost. I might invest the rest.

Pay off some bills and do some renovations on our co-op. Then, use the rest to go towards a down payment on a house after we sold our co-op.
