It sounds like a timing issue. IF you have a timing light, or know someone with one, have them check your timing. The cause could be bad plugs, bad distributor, or even a sensor. The sensors that could cause the rough idle are the emissions sensor or one that controls proper idle. SOmetimes places like Kragen or Autozone will do the diagnostic for you and let you know which sensor is bad. I would check the timing first though.

the same thing happend to me in two different vehicles.It turned out to be the altenator both times.
