I haven't heard of this term, unless you mean the cliched 'two days before calling' 'rule'. NC is usually applied to divorcees, as in No Contact is the best and/or fastest way to get over a divorce. No Email, no phone calls, no letters, no contact, ever unless it regards children/custody or estate matters, and in that case should be done through a third party whenever possible.

Since you say date, the two day call wait time is the normal thing. It's a rule though not a law. You call or contact them too soon and you look needy and that's a turn off. Wait too long and you show a lack of interest which can be bad too. If you have to go out of your way to avoid them, that's wrong in several ways. Don't be too eager and don't act as though she/he is the greatest thing in the world because the chase is part of the attraction and you have to have value to them to be worthy of the chase and too much too soon costs you that value.
