It will go bad as coconut is high in fat. Fats go rancid when exposed to oxygen.

Is it a shredded coconut? a fresh coconut? a petrified coconut? :P I think it will eventually go bad, but nuts and seeds keep a long time usually. I found some year-old sunflower seeds a couple days ago, and they were surprisingly tasty! anyway, the shredded stuff keeps a VERY long time in the freezer.

Anything eventually goes bad. Even frozen foods have a shelf life. the best advice is: if it doubt, throw it out.

I've never had one go bad but they do dry up and then they isn't much taste or flavor. SOmetimes for long storage you can wrap a nut in plastic but it's better if it breathes. After a while you can shake it and there isn't any water in it:-(
