  • No. There is no way to prove this true at all.
  • Not ALL. This is a stereotype. Though, some are.
  • no, as already said this is a stereotype... that said, stereotypes have a basis in fact... gay/straight ratio in most fassion and design industries is much higher than in the general populace.
  • No. I'd wager about 40%-50%, assuming you discount Barbers.
  • NO That question falls into the category of stupid questions. Someone has lead a sheltered existence to believe in sterotyping. I have worked in this industry for 16 years and have met more straight hairdressers than gay ones. I educate all over the country. Would you ask the same question of female mechanics? NO. Please don't be small minded and put an individual in a "category" just because that is not the industry standard. Most hairdressers are very talented and creative people. It is a very fulfilling career.
  • No only about 93% are Gay.
  • No not all are gay at all! I am a hairdresser!
  • No way! I am a male hairdresser and I work in an upscale full service salon in which most of our hairdressers are straight men. Cool huh?! And believe me, male hairdressers get some hot women! Those who men who think male hairdressers are gay is just because they are jealous they don't get to touch hot women on a daily basis!
  • My long-term hairdresser(not barber!) is a bloke and he's definitely not gay. I also know of 2 male hairdressers (also not barbers)who are married to women, 1 who has had at least 1 girlfriend and 1 who appears to prefer women, although I don't know him that well. I only know 2 who are gay, although I have heard of others who are. Isn't Nicky Clarke a straight, married hairdresser? Therefore, my conclusion is: some are, some aren't. Although I get the impression that some gay guys are attracted to this profession. NB This is a serious answer. However, many people joke about this topic.
  • Just the ones on TV :P
  • Only the ones who have figure skaters for boyfriends
  • Not ALL hairdressers, fashion designers, men who work at make-up counters, etc. But, c'mon, let's face it.
