Does ephedrine do anything to help or to hurt your voice, aside from its dehydration effects?

Ephedrine displaces noradrenaline from storage within the body, which in turn stimulates beta-2 adrenoreceptors in the smooth msucle of your airways, opening them up and allowing increased passage of air through them. This may assist in your singing, since the flow of air past your vocal cords produces the noise. However, I'm no musical expert. And as slowlyspun mentioned, it causes vasoconstriction by activating the smooth muscle in small blood vessels around your sinuses, acting as a decongestant, therefore helping you breath mre freely.
