  • Here's a synopsis I found for you. "Set in London's east end, Turtle's Progress follows a group of Cockney neer-do-wells in their attempts to lead lives of honest thievery. The stories were good, the dialogue sharp, and the characters engrossing. You'll notice some familiar names here, especially Michael Atwell, who have all gone on to higher things. Be warned: the show was made by Brits for Brits, so the Cockney accents are not the usual watered-down fare you'll find in the made-for-export-to-America products. But persevere; Turtle's Progress is well worth the effort." Source: http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt0078707/
  • Turtles Progress was about two small time crooks, Turtle, (John Landry) and Razor Eddie (Michael Atwell, who was actually a very good newspaper cartoonist as well as an actor, and who died last year). They accidentally stole a van containing safety deposit boxes and each week opened another box setting off another story depending on the contents. The series isn't apparently due out on DVD or video imminently as the company that made it was taken over by Carlton broadcasting and no-one knows who owns the rights to the original tapes. There is a dedicated page for the series at http://www.lonely.geek.nz/turtlesp.html
