  • It means that they should be cleaned or replaced. They can cause your engine to misfire or have problems whey you are trying to start your vehicle.
  • Sounds like bad oil seals. I'm no expert, but asking about that would be the first thing because changing them may be cheaper than other possibilities, and it might be the only thing wrong with your car.
  • im not shore
  • Sounds like worn out piston rings. You should get a compression test ran on the vehicle, to see the extent of the damage,it may need a rebuild.
  • I had this once and had to have the piston rings replaced.....you may also need a rebore of the piston chambers....quite expensive :o(
  • Piston rings are malfunctioning. If there is gas on your plugs that could be a gasket. It could get expensive.
  • Pumping oil, huh. Overhaul - hopefully just a top overhaul. Losing power? Black exhaust? Poor Mileage? Frequently need to add oil? All the classic signs.
  • Oil can only get to the combustion chamber then onto the spark plug through the worn valve seals or broken/damaged piston rings or blown head gasket. When too much oil is accumulated into the combustion chamber the spark plug will, eventually, give up and not fire as fuel will only ignite when petrol and air mix together(known as atomised fuel). Having too much oil mixed with petrol and air will not fire with the deteriorated spark from the spark plug. If you keep on changing new or cleaned spark plugs then the engine may fire up but with a lot of smoke (blue smoke). In the end, either cylinder head has to be removed to investigate and/or new piston rings and rebore will be required.
  • Sorry my friend but unles you took them out, covered them with oil and put them back in you're looking at spending a lot of money. It could be the valve seals but I fear that the piston rings are gone ant that's not cheap (this may cost more than your car is worth). If the vehicle was my car and it had little value and could easily replaced I'd drive it into the ground. If you still have a substantial loan on it you should probably bite the bullet and get it fixed. A rebuild could cost thousands of dollars. If the engine needs replacement, an engine from a junkyard is cheap but who's to say it won't have the same problem.
  • If oil is on the end of the plug that goes into the motor it is most likely a bad piston ring. If its on the boot end most likely its a leaking valve cover gasket.
  • Wear on the engine, either the pistons, bores, piston rings or the valve stem oil seals.
  • It sounds like your piston rings are worn and you have blow by. If they are coverd in oil thats the only way it can get there. now if its gas your compression timming is retarded and needs to be advanced, Use lower octane gas for a day, lower octane gas burns faster and it will not harm the engine, exspecially if it is pcm controlled because the computer will automatically adjust you pulse width firing in the injectors.
  • well it was fine to drive and then i parked it and an hour later it wouldnt start. I just had an oil change and oil is every where the spark plugs oh gawd it better not be the pistons... how can i tell if it is the pistons or a gasket?
  • The person did not say if it was on all the spark plugs or on the engine side or the outside where the wires connect. I imaginge he/she did not remove the plugs so the oil is on the outside. Rings or seals would not cause this; they would cause oil burning and they would probably not go all bad at once. Maybe they left the oil cap off, which would cause oil to blow out and get on the plugs and elsewhere. A pcv valve pulled out or such could also cause oil to blow out. Maybe they spilled oil that blew back on the engine. All this is a lot of speculation; a knowledgeable person needs to look at the engine; a good first step would be to take it back to the place the oil was changed to check for simple/obvious problems.
  • It means that the oil is not being burned, now the Q. is Why??? Have U cleaned the Plugs with a wire wheel or wire brush lately??? If so, U are the source of the Problem!!! The "Ceramic" around the "Center Electrode" is so much harder than the wires in the brushes, that the wire comes off on the "Ceramic" leaving little "pathways" for the Electric Power to go to "Ground" instead of going between the two "Electrodes", causing a very weak explosion that is unable to burn everything especially the heavier "Oil". This means U need to Replace all the plugs. U didn't say if All are "Oily" or not??? If "High Mileage" on Engine, it could be Bad Valve Stem Seals/Guides, Worn out Piston Skirts & Rings as well as the Cylinder Walls. If only a "Couple" of Plugs are "Oily", It is bad Valve Stem Seals & can be Replaced cheaply or U could buy some "No Foul Extenders" that go between Ur Plugs & the Head. John
  • bad valve seals pandabear
  • Well if the oil in on the electrode part of the plug, then you have some problems, either an oil ring is gone. maybe even a crack in one of the oil gallerys. I the outer part is covered , you might want to check you valve cover gasket.
  • Your spark plugs are fouled!
  • Could be bad valve seals.
