  • It might. A little research beforehand might have revealed whether or not they find "unusual hairstyles" (I know, but this is how some businesses look at it...) acceptable or not. An anonymous phone call might have answered that question. Good luck on your job interview!
  • Well, maybe the HR Representative or whoever is conducting the interview looks like Bob Marley and it will be perfect. But honestly, a conservative look is the way to go for an interview.
  • If you are applying for a job as a DJ or a break dancer, it may enhance your chances to get the job. Also, if the company is open minded, they will not judge you on your hairstyle. However, it is a conservative, traditional company, I would get my dreadlocks after the interview. First impressions will be your judge before you are able to proof yourself at the workplace. Many people still prefer a clean cut hairstyle on job candidates. On the other hand, if they judge you solely on your hairstyle, you may not want to work there, anyway.
  • I would definitely think it would. No matter what anyone says about discrimination, etc., first impressions speak volumes, and I always play the conservative card for interviews. Even now, my son is going around getting applications and I keep reminding him to take out his little earrings because I know if I saw earrings and sloppy clothes come in for a job, they wouldn't get one from me. It is the real world, how you present yourself is speaking on who you are.
  • My daughter-in-law has dreadlocks and her nose is pierced and she holds a responsible job. She lives in a liberal town, however.
  • De[ends on the job, and your location I would think in Columbia a city near where I live AOK.
