scissortails, barn swallows, Bluebirds are migrating species. Mocking birds do not. It is possible that the others have started migrating south for the winter. The mocking bird??? Unknown. Doves migrate as well, it is possible that the one you potted was on its way to its winter home and just stopped by for the day, a bit of a break. Although it is still mid-September, it is cooling off and days are growing shorter. The season of flying south is starting - different species leave at different times. Not always on the same day year to year. With climate change and other factors migrating patterns of many species is "off" slightly from past migration patterns. Bird start leaving further north earlier than those further south. So depending on where you live you will see birds leaving for the south sooner or later.
