A rabbit's heart beats, on average and depending on the breed, two to five times faster than that of its human counterpart. A bunny's heart may feel like it's racing due to the extreme differences in the rate -- it's not unusual for smaller breeds of rabbit to have a heartbeat of 325 beats per minute. The larger breeds, as with all animals, have a slower heart rate of roughly 130. To put this in perspective, human hearts beat roughly 70 times a minute, a mouse, 700, and an elephant, 30.
