If you have ever read Plato's "The Allegory of the Cave", what is your cave?

I've been sheltered all my life by my parents (My Cave) pretty much and I've stayed away from behaviors and people that I find are against what I believe is correct. By this I mean, drug users, criminal activities, and getting around sexually with unclean people. My leaving the cave and seeing the "light of day", happened a month ago and I realized that I have been living a wonderful life. I've met people in my life that have the same principles and morals as myself but at the same time I've noticed that most people are selfish and inconsiderate of their fellow man. It really makes me sad to see and think of the world I lived in as a truly different then what I thought it was. I still stick to my principles and everything but somehow the world just seems a little scarier then I previously thought.
