When we had a stamp increase by 2 cents. I would give the mailman pennies for an extra stamp that I sent out.

i once used a gallon jug of pennies to finance a snowboarding trip! it paid for my day pass and lunch but it took FOREVER to count out the pennies and roll them into 50 cent sleeves! lol...

When I was a little kid, i tried to put $10 worth of pennies into this envelope so that i could go to summer camp.

Yes, I always separated my US change from my Canadian change..the pennies are often used interchangeably in Canada because the look so similar. In Honolulu I wanted to get rid of all this change so I put $1.50 (or whatever) in the machine on a bus.

Yeah , when the stupid food machine at work has run out of silver it pays out change in coppers so on my next visit the sod has the whole lot back !!

Almost. Back in 1974, my husband and I had run out of money and we searched th whole house for coins so we could buy something at the store to add to dinner we were making. We found 27 pennies and 1 nickel. We wee able to go to a little local store that had a meat dept. and he gave us exactly 32cents of ground beef. So we had a bit of protein in our spaghetti sauce:-)

Yes, the poor KFC by my apartment out of college received a lot of pennies for chicken legs. I actually was thankful to get a job at BK so I could eat on a regular basis!

After an emergency room visit in college, I negiotiated a bogus medical bill down from $175.00 to $43.75. I then told them I would pay that over four months. Every month I would take the bus to the billing office and pay the $11.00 in pennies and nickels. I took a box full of coins and sat it on the desk and offered to wait while they counted it. They always got upset. I enjoyed it.

Not for anything more than, say, a small piece of candy. I did pay for a skirt at a thrift store using only dimes, though. Later on, I bought a bag of H'ween candy at a drug store using the change I had left over. The cashiers were none too pleased. Ah, the days before I had a credit card!

yep. A $40 ticket I got for not wearing a helmet while driving a moped. I was young and stupid for doing both.

Yes I have. When I was a child there was 5 cent candy and sometimes I would even count up all my pennies and get a slice of pizza!

I got annoyed that a person working for Kroger..little shout out to them..anyway the person was very rude and impatient with an elderly woman for taking too much of his precious time counting change..So I walked to the bank next door to Kroger..asked them nicely for 50 dollars in pennies..went back in and proceeded to open the little wrappers to pay for my order..Nice..probably not..but it was fun :)

Bus fare, a lot. Although some drivers used to refuse to take them and not let me get on the bus!

Yes, I have to buy 4 gallons of milk a week, and for $10 for two gallons I took rolls of pennies! I usually wrap it.

Yeah, I bought a coloring table cloth for my kids from one of those teenagers selling stuff door to door. He said he would even take pennies and would even count them for me. I couldn't pass up that deal.

Yup I did. I was mad a store once, and brought a bag of chips, and slowly counted the pennies out.. and after 50 cents decided I didn't want the chips..and left haha

Yea, in highschool, my friends and I did the 'cliche' paying for a pizza with pennies, I felt really bad for the poor pizza guy out there counting $30 in pennies.....

When I was a kid, yes. LOL I used to buy gum at the corner store with pennies I found around the house, in the sofa, etc. ;))

Yes, candy when I was a kid (some of it only cost a penny), and gas when I was a poor adult.
