If you're in a monogamous relationship, you know you and your partner are both clean and there's no cheating going on, then safe sex is only preventing pregnancy - so if you have another means of birth control, go for it.

My wife had a more unsavory past than I did, but our pre-marriage blood-tests came up clean after two monogamous years. It really DOES depend on how well you truly know your partners past. O know what myy (now) wife did while we were separated due to my military obligations and that honesty has actually saved us a lot of problems. Sure, condoms were inconvenient for a while as we awaited test results, but that was a small price to pay. Now we have a safe, monogamous relationship, free of the worries of anything cropping up as a result of our previous lives as singles.
