  • A screen saver does not conserve electricity. The software is geared towards preventing images from being "burned" into the monitor. Newer monitors don't really need screen savers anymore. They are basicaly just for show. Old monitors should always have screen savers availible for use.
  • In fact, a screen saver will likely consume more electricity than just leaving the computer running idle, because it consumes processor power and graphics processing power to display all those lovely graphics. Screen savers are pure entertainment, as the monitors that suffered from burn-in haven't been sold in over 12 years.
