  • Are you sure it was a tick? They're usually found out in the woods. Maybe it was a flea instead. This is what a tick generally looks like.
  • Maybe it was a mosquito or flee. What you first should do is tell your dad to frickin' clean his house.
  • Ticks don't bite, they attach to you and you will see them stuck to you with the head imbedded in your skin. In the army back in the day I was was actually put in the hospital after coming from the field and had about 50 ticks on me. Luckily I did not get Lyme disease, but it took awhile to find some of them and they were pretty big when we got to them.
  • If you were bitten my a tick you would have it still attached to your leg getting bigger and bigger because it was filling up with your blood. Then when it can't drink anymore, it just falls off with a smaller male attached to her underside. I don't think it was a tick. I've had many tick bites.
  • My guess is a mite bit you. They are tiny, almost invisible, but they cause an itchy spot that is easily infected and can turn into a sore if not treated properly. Illinois is having an infestation of "itch mites" right now, moving in from the southwest, but they can come from, and be in, any location. When in doubt or need of some relief, swab with alcohol.
