Absolutely! And, even more important, she hugs me. The last time I was hospitalized with kidney stones, when I got home, she ran up, knocked me down, and proceeded to hug me for at least 10 minutes. After which, she jumped up on the couch and laid her head in my lap for about 30 minutes. Dogs GIVE so much more than they ever will take.

Tons. Every dog and I've ever owned, and plenty I didn't. I had a golden retriever I hugged every day for 12 years. Dogs are very huggable.

Unless the dog is not social and a trained killer, I try to hug every dog I encounter.
I'm a bit larger, and I love dogs SO much that I don't like them to feel threatened or intimidated by me.
So I try to slowly and calmly lower myself to their level, neck and ear "scritch" them and go in for the hug if their not struggling to get away.
